报告内容简介
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) circulated its first beams on 20 November 2009, with first collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 0.9 TeV on 23 November, and a world-record energy of 2.36 TeV was established on 30 November. LHC Operation ended 16 December. The LHC experiments have recorded over a million particle collisions till December 16. A summary of the first LHC operation will be presented together with future perspectives of the CERN scientific program including also non-LHC experiments.
报告人简介
Professor Felicitas Pauss received her PhD degree in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics at the University of Graz (Austria) in 1976. In 1978 she started to work as a postdoc at the Max-Planck Institute (MPI) in Munich (Germany) where she changed to the field of Experimental Particle Physics. She continued her research at Cornell University (USA) and CERN before she was elected professor at ETH Zurich in 1993. From 1997 till 2007 she was the director of the Institute for Particle Physics of ETH Zurich. Since January 2009 she is in charge of coordinating CERN’s external relations.
